Macona’s recovery shows progress as doctors suspend hospital visits

Sanyuka TV entertainment presenter Brian Ssemanda, widely known as Macona, is showing signs of recovery after a serious road crash that killed two of his colleagues, according to a public notice from Next Media cited by Sqoop Uganda. The company said doctors have now temporarily suspended hospital visits so he can recover in a quieter environment.

Sqoop Uganda reported that Macona has been in hospital since Friday, August 7, after the accident on the Entebbe Expressway. The crash killed Sanyuka TV producer Badru Kasirye and Next Media employee Isaac Claude Ndamagye. Macona reportedly suffered severe head injuries and was admitted to intensive care.

Next Media thanked members of the public for the support shown since the accident, including visits, messages and prayers. It asked people who were planning to see him in hospital to hold off until further notice. The publication said the move suggests doctors are focusing on giving him the best conditions for continued recovery.

The accident has drawn wide attention across Uganda’s media and entertainment community, with colleagues, fans and other public figures expressing sympathy for the victims and support for Macona. In general, hospitals sometimes limit visits to reduce stress and infection risk for critically ill patients, although Sqoop Uganda did not provide further medical details.
