9to5Mac reports that Apple’s second-generation MacBook Neo is expected to arrive in 2027, following the launch of the first model earlier in 2026. The site describes the Neo as Apple’s most affordable laptop and says the current version has performed strongly “by all indications,” while noting that the next version is still based on reports rather than an Apple announcement.

The main expected change is a move from the A18 Pro chip to the A19 Pro, which Bloomberg has reported is planned for the next MacBook Neo. According to 9to5Mac, benchmark comparisons suggest the A19 Pro delivers roughly 10% to 15% better CPU performance than the A18 Pro and a larger graphics improvement, potentially as much as 40%. The article also cites reporter Tim Culpan as saying Apple is likely to use a binned A19 Pro in the laptop, meaning the MacBook Neo version may have a 5-core GPU instead of the 6-core GPU used in the iPhone 17 Pro.

9to5Mac says the next model is also expected to increase memory from 8GB to 12GB, though not to the 16GB starting point used across the rest of Apple’s Mac lineup. That added memory, combined with the newer chip, is expected to support Apple’s more advanced on-device AI model announced at WWDC, including improved dictation and additional Siri voice customization options.

The report also says Apple may refresh the MacBook Neo color lineup periodically, though no specific colors are known. Apple has not publicly confirmed the MacBook Neo 2, its specifications, pricing or exact release date.
