CNBC reports that major shipping and logistics companies are expanding deeper into health care as demand grows for cold-chain storage and temperature-controlled delivery. The trend is being driven in part by fast-growing GLP-1 drugs, including injectable treatments such as Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro and Zepbound, which must be kept refrigerated during shipment to protect their quality and effectiveness.

The report says UPS, FedEx, DHL Supply Chain and C.H. Robinson are investing in facilities, technology and networks designed for pharmaceuticals and other sensitive medical products. UPS announced a $48 million investment in temperature-controlled facilities in June, and its chief executive said the company recorded its first $3 billion health care revenue quarter earlier this year. FedEx, which recently created a life sciences organization, told analysts its health care transportation revenue reached nearly $10 billion in fiscal 2026.

CNBC also cites C.H. Robinson as saying it surpassed $1 billion in health care logistics revenue over the past year, with GLP-1 growth playing a major role. DHL Supply Chain, meanwhile, has said it plans to invest 2 billion euros in health logistics by 2030, with half aimed at the Americas. Executives described increasingly complex supply chains as medicines require tighter delivery windows, specialized handling and better tracking from warehouse to patient.

The broader significance is that pharmaceutical innovation is creating new pressure on logistics infrastructure. Beyond GLP-1s, products such as biologics, some vaccines, insulin and certain antibiotics can also depend on controlled temperatures. CNBC notes that U.S. regulators warn patients not to use GLP-1 medicines that arrive warm or without adequate refrigeration, underscoring why reliable cold-chain delivery has become a competitive priority.
