Little Fire: Firefighter injured, evacuations ordered as wildfire explodes to 950 acres near Pleasanton in Alameda County - ABC7 Bay Area

What the report says
KGO-TV reports that firefighters have gained ground on the Little Fire near Pleasanton in Alameda County after the wildfire spread quickly through hills south of the city Tuesday afternoon. The fire began before 3 p.m. around Little Valley Road and Hubbard Lane, grew to more than 950 acres by early evening, and later reached 1,007 acres, according to CAL FIRE figures cited by the station.
By Wednesday morning, CAL FIRE said forward spread had been stopped and containment had risen to 40%. Evacuation orders, including for the Ruby Hill area, were lifted or downgraded after crews worked overnight with helicopters, air tankers, dozers and ground teams in steep terrain. ABC7 reported that thousands of residents were allowed to return as firefighters continued mopping up hot spots.
One firefighter was injured when a CAL FIRE engine rolled over during the response, the station reported. The firefighter was taken to a hospital, later released and returned home. CAL FIRE said no structures were damaged and that the immediate threat to homes had passed. Battalion Chief Joe Ortegel credited firefighting work and defensible space around the Ruby Hill subdivision with helping keep flames from damaging houses.
The fire prompted a visible emergency response and sent some residents to the Pleasanton Senior Center, which served as an evacuation meeting point. Residents told ABC7 the flames and smoke moved rapidly toward neighborhoods, pushed by wind and complicated by terrain. The cause of the Little Fire remains under investigation, and CAL FIRE expected to continue updating containment as crews worked the perimeter.
