Listenupshance Holds On in Bing Crosby, Cornucopian Eased - Thoroughbred Daily News

What the report says
Thoroughbred Daily News reported that Listenupshance won the Grade I Bing Crosby Stakes at Del Mar on Saturday, July 25, 2026, narrowly defeating Maximum Bourbon by a nose in the six-furlong sprint. The victory gave the 4-year-old gelding his first black-type, graded stakes and Grade I win, and also secured an automatic “Win and You’re In” berth to the Breeders’ Cup Sprint.
The race unfolded with Mad House setting the early pace through a fast opening quarter, while Listenupshance tracked close behind under jockey Emisael Jaramillo. Listenupshance moved to the front near the top of the stretch and held off Maximum Bourbon’s late challenge. Moonlight rallied from far back to finish third. The final time was 1:09.33 on a fast dirt track, and Listenupshance went off at odds of 5-1.
TDN reported that the race was overshadowed by an incident involving heavy favorite Cornucopian, trained by Bob Baffert. Cornucopian was pulled up at the top of the stretch, eased, vanned off and placed under further veterinary evaluation, according to the article. The horse had entered the Bing Crosby after winning the Grade III Aristides Stakes at Churchill Downs on May 30.
Trainer Doug O’Neill praised Jaramillo for getting Listenupshance away cleanly, an important contrast with the horse’s previous start, when he missed the break before finishing third in the Grade III True North at Saratoga. Listenupshance, owned by Great Friends Stables and Run Fast Racing and bred in Kentucky by Al and Michelle Crawford Racing, is now unbeaten in three starts on Del Mar’s dirt surface.
