What the report says

A businessman from Lira City and a school inspector have been charged in Kampala over allegations of fraud, conspiracy to commit a felony and personation, according to Nile Post. The case was heard at City Hall Court before Senior Magistrate Edgar Karakire and is said to relate to incidents that prosecutors place in June 2026.

The two accused are identified as Ambrose Okot, also known as William Musinguzi, 42, a resident of Ujamu Cell in Lira City West, and Tom Ronald Omara, 45, an inspector of schools in Lira City who lives in Kirombe Cell, Starch Factory Ward. The prosecution alleges they collected more than Shs4 million by making false claims about what they could do for clients.

Nile Post reports that one count accuses Okot of taking Shs500,000 from a complainant at Mulago Cancer Institute in Kampala while claiming he could resolve a school-related matter involving Lango College. Another allegation says he received Shs1.5 million in Ntinda for promising to help transfer a relative. A joint charge alleges that Okot and Omara obtained Shs2 million in Lira City by saying they could have private PLE candidates registered as UPE candidates at Olaka Child Care Primary School.

Okot also faces a personation allegation for allegedly posing as a UNEB legal officer. The article does not give the pleas or any bail ruling. As with all criminal charges, the accusations remain unproven unless a court finds otherwise.
