What the report says

AllAfrica, carrying a report from The Liberian Investigator, reported that NPA Pythons have reached the 2026 Liberia Basketball Association First Division League Finals after defeating Mighty Barrolle 76-71 at the SKD Gymnasium. The result completed a 2-0 sweep in their best-of-three semifinal series and ended Barrolle’s attempt to defend its title.

According to the report, the Pythons had already won Game 1 and closed out the matchup with what was described as a controlled performance in Game 2. It is the second straight season in which NPA Pythons have knocked Mighty Barrolle, known as the Kanyan Pepper Boys, out at the semifinal stage. The win sets up a best-of-five championship series for NPA against either LPRC Oilers or Spartacus.

The Liberian Investigator reported that LPRC Oilers led the other men’s semifinal 1-0 and could qualify for the finals with another win over Spartacus on Monday, during Liberia’s Independence Day celebrations. The outcome of that series will determine whether NPA faces one of Liberian basketball’s established powers or a Spartacus side still trying to extend its postseason run.

The same report also noted key results in other LBA competitions. In the Women’s First Division semifinals, Flames beat Highlanders 50-30 to complete a 2-0 sweep and reach the national female league finals, a result that also qualifies them for the FIBA Africa Zone 3 pathway. In Men’s Division Two, Bushrod Dreams advanced to the best-of-five finals after a 55-47 win over 72nd Wildcats.
