Liberia: Liberia Steps Up Push for U.S. Investment

What the report says
Liberia’s Foreign Minister Sara Beysolow Nyanti and Special Envoy for U.S. Trade and Investment Isaac E. Taggart Jr. have wrapped up talks on an investment roadshow designed to draw American investors and deepen economic ties with the United States, according to AllAfrica’s reporting of The New Dawn. The discussions took place at Liberia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Monrovia after outreach events in Houston, Texas, and Washington, D.C.
The article says the roadshow is part of the government’s broader economic diplomacy under President Joseph Nyuma Boakai’s ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development. Officials used the Houston stop to engage energy executives, investors and industry specialists on opportunities in power generation, energy infrastructure and Liberia’s oil and gas sector. In Washington, the focus shifted to critical minerals, value-added processing, infrastructure, ports and logistics.
AllAfrica reported that the Washington event, co-hosted by the U.S.-Africa Business Center, drew about 30 American investors and institutional stakeholders. Taggart is now expected to follow up with technical assessments, feasibility studies, site visits and financing discussions to turn interest into possible projects.
No signed investment deals or confirmed funding commitments were announced. The initiative is significant because it reflects Liberia’s effort to use diplomacy to attract capital, expand private-sector activity and support job creation, while strengthening commercial links with U.S. partners.
