AllAfrica, republishing a Liberian Observer report from Monrovia dated July 22, 2026, says Nora Finda Bundoo, former Chief of Protocol to ex-President George Manneh Weah, has been sent to Monrovia Central Prison after Criminal Court “C” rejected a bail bond filed by her lawyers. Presiding Judge Ousman Feika reportedly upheld prosecution objections to the bond, ending Bundoo’s temporary freedom while she faces corruption-related charges.

According to the report, prosecutors from the Assets Recovery and Property Retrieval Task Force challenged the bond’s validity and sufficiency, saying the defense had not met the legal standards required to ensure Bundoo’s appearance at trial. The court had earlier rejected a bond and allowed the defense to correct problems, but prosecutors argued the revised filing still fell short. The article notes that Liberian criminal procedure requires an appearance bond to be backed by adequate cash security or unencumbered real property with supporting documents such as valid title deeds, tax clearances and valuation records.

Bundoo is among former Weah administration officials indicted in connection with an alleged diversion of more than US$6.7 million and L$845 million in public funds, the report says. Prosecutors allege funds moved through private companies linked to accused individuals under the cover of official government transactions. Bundoo faces charges including money laundering, theft of property, misuse of public money, criminal conspiracy, forgery and criminal facilitation.

The Liberian Observer reported that Bundoo denies the allegations and remains legally presumed innocent unless proven guilty. Her detention is expected to continue until her lawyers submit a bond accepted by the court or until another court order is issued.
