Liberia: Firing One Officer Isn't a Security Policy. Liberia Needs a Reshuffle, Not a Press Conference

The editorial centers on Johnny Bolar Dean, who it says had been flagged in 2016 and again in 2025 before being removed after a recorded $10,000 bribe allegation connected to what the outlet described as Liberia’s largest drug case.

FrontPageAfrica credited Inspector General Gregory Coleman for acting quickly by firing and interdicting Dean, making the matter public and pledging a criminal referral. But the editorial said the episode showed a deeper institutional weakness: prior warnings about Dean allegedly did not produce consequences, and action came only after a high-profile case drew wider attention.

The piece also pointed to other reported concerns, including internal investigations involving senior National Security Agency and police personnel suspected of links to a trafficking network that Justice Minister Oswald Tweh said had operated in Liberia for more than six years.
