What the report says

Grand Bassa County Senator Gbehzohngar Milton Findley has indicated he would be open to serving as a vice-presidential running mate in Liberia’s 2029 elections. In remarks reported by The New Dawn and distributed by AllAfrica, Findley said he would consider any proposal that emerges from talks with presidential hopefuls and political parties.

The comments were made during a Monday, October 5 appearance on OK FM in Monrovia, where he discussed early political positioning ahead of the next national vote. Findley said he expects parties to step up consultations with independent lawmakers and other influential figures as alliances begin to form. He also said he is prepared to speak with the ruling Unity Party and any other group interested in political cooperation.

Findley, who previously served as Liberia’s foreign affairs minister and as president pro tempore of the Senate, said he would not automatically turn down a request to join a ticket. He argued that politicians with national campaign experience can bring visibility and experience to a presidential slate.

The report said Findley returned to the Senate after winning his 2023 race as an independent candidate. His remarks are notable because they point to potential coalition-building and running-mate negotiations well before the 2029 contest, a period when Liberian parties are expected to begin informal discussions and strategy shifts.
