Liberia: Boakai Receives New U.S. Chargé d'Affaires

What the report says
President Joseph Nyuma Boakai of Liberia received the newly accredited U.S. Chargé d’Affaires, Kristin Gilmore, in Monrovia during a courtesy visit reported by the Liberian Observer and distributed by AllAfrica. The meeting focused on ways to deepen Liberia-U.S. ties through investment, trade links, public health cooperation, and security engagement.
According to the report, Boakai told Gilmore that his government remained committed to maintaining peace and stability while creating conditions that could support broader bilateral cooperation and attract investment. The discussion also reflected the long-running diplomatic relationship between Liberia and the United States, which has included collaboration on governance, economic development and international affairs.
Gilmore said she was pleased to return to Liberia, where she had previously worked from 2007 to 2009. She said she was encouraged by what she described as Liberia’s progress in democratic governance and its role internationally. She also outlined interest in encouraging U.S. companies and investors to explore opportunities in Liberia, including support for the country’s development agenda.
The report said the diplomat was accompanied by members of her mission, including the new deputy chief of mission and staff from the political and economic sections. Senior Liberian officials, including the foreign minister and national security adviser, were present. The meeting matters because it signals continued U.S. diplomatic engagement and a push to expand practical cooperation in areas that can affect Liberia’s economy and public services.
