What the report says

Leeds United will be without defender Joe Rodon for around eight to 10 weeks after manager Daniel Farke said the centre-back suffered a serious hamstring injury. Rodon, 28, was forced off in the first half of Leeds’ 1-1 Premier League draw with Brentford last Sunday, after previously featuring in the opening league win at Nottingham Forest and a Carabao Cup victory over the same opponent.

Farke said the injury is a major setback for Leeds because Rodon has been a key part of the side’s defence. He suggested the club may have to adjust its plans at centre-back and wing-back, with James Justin among those who could be used in different roles. Leeds have already added French defender Melvin Bard on deadline day to strengthen their defensive options, while Gabriel Gudmundsson has also been unavailable because of a hamstring issue suffered in pre-season.

The absence is also likely to affect Wales, for whom Rodon is an established international. BBC Sport reported that he is expected to miss upcoming Uefa Nations League fixtures during the next international break. More broadly, the injury highlights the pressure on Leeds’ squad depth early in the season, with Farke noting the club may need to react further if necessary in the transfer market.
