The report, published July 23, said James has already gathered the information he needs from interested teams and is expected to make the choice on his own timeline with agent Rich Paul and his inner circle.

According to the NBC Sports Bay Area article, earlier speculation suggested James might be monitoring whether possible suitors could acquire Washington Wizards forward Anthony Davis or Dallas Mavericks guard Kyrie Irving. Charania said on ESPN’s “The Pat McAfee Show” that James is not waiting on those or other “domino” moves, and identified Cleveland, Miami, Golden State, Philadelphia and Minnesota as the teams in the mix.

The report said contract size is not expected to be the defining factor, with Charania describing minimum deals or exceptions as likely mechanisms.
