Religious and government leaders in Mityana have paid tribute to the late Tooro King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV, praising his leadership and support for youth empowerment as a model for younger Ugandans. The remarks were made at the Holy Orthodox Metropolis of Mityana during celebrations for the Feast of the Dormition of the Most Holy Theotokos and Ever-Virgin Mary.

Minister of State for Kampala Affairs Joseph Kyofatogabye said King Oyo understood the importance of economic empowerment and opening opportunities for young people. Archbishop Nektarios Leonard Lubega of the Genuine Orthodox Church of America, Mityana Metropolis, also honoured the late monarch and said leadership should be judged by its impact on communities.

The tributes highlighted King Oyo’s contribution to social and economic development in Tooro and urged young people to embrace responsibility, hard work and service.
