What the report says

Lab Aid UK has donated science laboratory equipment worth more than Shs 50 million to Bata Secondary School in Bata Town Council, Dokolo District, according to Dokolo Post. The handover took place on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, and was carried out by Christine Mongo, who serves as Executive Director of Future Net Uganda and coordinator of Lab Aid UK.

The donation is intended to improve science education and give students more opportunities for practical learning. Mongo said the equipment was provided free of charge by Lab Aid UK and expressed hope that it would help the school grow into a stronger centre for science and technology.

School staff welcomed the support. Science teacher Augustine Oyuru said the equipment should help teachers deliver the new curriculum and address long-standing shortages that had limited practical lessons. Headteacher Denis Ogwal also praised the donation, describing it as a major boost for science teaching at the school.

Ogwal noted that efforts to secure a fully equipped science laboratory had been discussed in the past, including a 2018 pledge by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni that, he said, had not yet been fulfilled. He urged parents to consider enrolling their children at the school, saying the new equipment could improve performance and encourage more students to pursue science-related studies.
