Gomba, described as the tournament’s most successful side with five titles, is also on eight points in third, while Mawokota has seven. Bulemeezi and Busiro are level on four points each.

The group is notable because it brings together several established Masaza Cup sides, including Gomba, three-time winners Mawokota, Bulemeezi and former champions Busiro, alongside Kyaggwe and Ssese, who are still seeking their first titles. Nile Post says the early form of Kyaggwe and Ssese has surprised followers of the tournament, as both have outperformed teams with stronger historical records.

The first round ended Sunday with a high-profile 1-1 draw between Gomba and Kyaggwe at Kabulasoke Playground. The match drew a large crowd, local leaders and Buganda Kingdom officials, including Minister for Youth and Talent Robert Serwanga, who attended as chief guest. According to the report, Serwanga commended the competitive standard in the group and urged teams to sharpen their attacking play in the second round after a relatively low-scoring opening phase.

Nile Post also reports that, with the first round complete, all teams have entered a transfer window and may add up to three players before the decisive second round. The results matter because the Masengere Group race remains tight, with multiple teams still positioned to challenge for knockout-stage qualification.
