What the report says

Jared Kushner, US President Donald Trump’s son-in-law and envoy, is scheduled to meet Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday to promote a 15-point Gaza plan that Israel has already rejected, according to Al Jazeera. The meeting follows Kushner’s trip to El-Alamein, Egypt, where he met mediators from Egypt, Qatar and Turkey. He was also joined by Board of Peace Director-General Nickolay Mladenov and former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair.

Al Jazeera reported that Kushner also held a rare meeting in Egypt with members of Hamas’s political leadership. An official familiar with the discussions said the aim was to turn the roadmap’s commitments into specific, verifiable steps. The article said the trip is part of an effort to break a diplomatic impasse over the Gaza proposal.

The plan, linked to Trump-backed mediation efforts, calls for Hamas to gradually disarm and hand over governance of Gaza to an international force, in exchange for an Israeli withdrawal. Netanyahu has publicly objected to that sequence, while Hamas has said it accepted the plan in principle but wants Israel to fulfill its own commitments first, including ending attacks and pulling back its forces.

More broadly, Al Jazeera said the effort is tied to the Board of Peace, a US-led body launched in February 2026 under a broader late-2025 Gaza ceasefire framework. The report said the board includes about 40 countries, though no Palestinian representatives, and that the situation remains contested as talks continue.
