Kosovo signs up to US-led Gaza stabilisation force

Kosovo has agreed to join the US-led International Stabilization Force (ISF) planned for Gaza, becoming one of a small group of countries linked to the mission, Al Jazeera reported on Monday. The agreement was described as a formal participating-country arrangement signed in Pristina by Kosovo Security Force Commander Lieutenant-General Bashkim Jashari and US ISF Commander Major-General Jasper Jeffers, according to a post from the US-backed Board of Peace.

The Board of Peace said the move shows Kosovo’s support for the ISF and for the wider 20-point peace plan promoted by the Trump administration. Al Jazeera said that plan, a US-Israeli framework presented last year, includes creating a multinational security mission to help maintain stability in Gaza, oversee demilitarisation and train a Palestinian police force in a post-conflict phase.

Several other countries have already been named as contributors, including Indonesia, Morocco, Kazakhstan, Albania and Uganda. Turkiye is not expected to take part after Israel objected to its involvement. Al Jazeera also reported that Israel has approved legal steps to allow the force to enter Gaza, but deployment remains stalled over unresolved issues such as the timing of Israeli withdrawals and Hamas disarmament.
