Kodansha USA Licenses The Pool, Subaru and Subaru, Kraken Mare, 5 More Manga - Anime News Network

Anime News Network reported that Kodansha USA Publishing used its Saturday panel at San Diego Comic-Con International to announce eight new manga licenses for the North American market. According to the report, the newly licensed titles are all slated to debut in spring 2027: Gamon Sakurai’s The Pool, Shuuichi Shigeno’s Subaru and Subaru, Maki and Hamuhamu’s The Cat and Dog’s Nine-Tailed Lives, IZU and Hagane’s Kraken Mare, Kenji Tsurubuchi and Konata’s Meaheim, yoruhashi’s Rega in the Sleeping Forest, Shizuku Torii’s I Love You, Please Dump Me, and toreta’s I Loved Him First!.

The lineup spans several genres. The Pool is presented as a survival science-fiction story involving a military security team on an alien world, while Kraken Mare combines space travel, energy extraction and religious control in a future shaped by monstrous Krakens. Subaru and Subaru connects to the racing worlds of Initial D and MF Ghost, following two new drivers entering the MFG circuit.

Other titles include fantasy and romance-focused works. The Cat and Dog’s Nine-Tailed Lives follows pets transformed into long-lived yokai, Meaheim centers on a journey into a monster-filled borderland, and Rega in the Sleeping Forest reworks cursed-princess fantasy imagery into a darker quest. I Love You, Please Dump Me and I Loved Him First! add romantic comedy and boys-love elements to the list.

ANN also reported that Kodansha USA plans to release a box set collecting the first six volumes of Saka Mikami’s The Fragrant Flower Blooms With Dignity in spring 2027. The announcements show Kodansha USA continuing to build its print and digital manga catalog with a mix of established creators, genre fiction and relationship-driven titles.
