Kisoro: Hundreds Benefit from Free Medical Camp in Busanza

Hundreds of residents in Busanza Sub-county, Kisoro District, received free medical care during a three-day outreach at Busanza Health Centre IV, according to Nile Post. The camp was organised by the Makerere University Medical Students Association (MUMSA), working with the Makerere University Kisoro Students Association (MUKSA), as part of an effort to improve access to healthcare in rural communities.

The outreach provided diagnosis, treatment, health education and medication to patients seen by doctors and student volunteers. The article said the services covered both communicable and non-communicable diseases, with diabetes and other long-term conditions among the cases encountered. Busanza Health Centre IV in-charge Dr Edward Samson Rukenge welcomed the camp, saying it helped fill service gaps at the facility and brought in additional drugs and specialised support.

Beneficiaries described the outreach as helpful for families that cannot always obtain free or affordable treatment nearby. Health officials and organisers also called for more partnerships to sustain similar camps, noting their potential to support earlier disease detection and reduce preventable illness in rural areas.
