Eurogamer.net reported that footage said to be from the cancelled mobile title Kingdom Hearts Missing-Link has surfaced online, a little over a year after development ended. The short clip, shared on X and embedded in Eurogamer’s article, appears to show what may have been the game’s cinematic opening, featuring astronaut-like characters descending into a dark, watery setting before confronting a large Heartless enemy.

According to Eurogamer’s description, the characters then use jetpacks and Keyblades to attack the monster, adding to fan curiosity about the tone and story direction of the unreleased project. The outlet noted that the footage raises questions because comparatively little had been publicly explained about Missing-Link before its cancellation.

Eurogamer said the game began development in 2022 for mobile platforms and was intended to sit within the complex Kingdom Hearts chronology between Kingdom Hearts Union X and Kingdom Hearts Dark Road. It would have explored the so-called “blank era,” a period of the series’ lore that remains largely unexplained. Square Enix cancelled the game last year, with the development team saying it would be difficult to provide a service that players would find satisfying over the long term.

The report places the leak in the context of Square Enix’s current focus on Kingdom Hearts 4. Eurogamer noted that the long-awaited sequel has recently shown signs of renewed public activity, including a Nintendo Switch 2 trailer shown during a June Nintendo Direct.
