King David Junior School Director Tadeo Ssekadde Laid to Rest in Bukomansimbi

Nile Post reported that hundreds of mourners attended the burial of Tadeo Ssekadde, the director of King David Junior School, in Bukomansimbi District on Tuesday. The funeral gathering was held at Kikondere Church of Uganda Primary School playground in Butenga Sub-county, before Ssekadde was laid to rest at his ancestral home in Kikondere Village. He died aged 51 in the Kapchorwa road crash that occurred as pupils and staff were returning from a school trip.

According to the report, the crash killed more than 23 pupils and two adults, and left many others injured. At the funeral service, religious leaders described Ssekadde as a committed Christian and community supporter who invested in education and local development. Family members, including his widow Pross Ssekadde and their children, remembered him as a dedicated husband, father and worker.

Local and education leaders used the burial to call for wider support for those affected by the accident. Teachers from King David Junior School appealed to government, development partners and well-wishers to assist pupils still receiving treatment in hospitals. Elton Joseph Mabirizi, chairperson of the Association of Directors of Private Schools, said education stakeholders would support efforts to keep the school operating after the death of its founder.

Bukomansimbi South MP Hassan Mukiibi Sserunjogi condemned insensitive social media conduct around the tragedy, while other leaders urged government to improve roads and emergency health services. The report also noted gratitude from mourners to people in Kapchorwa for assisting victims and bereaved families after the crash.
