Kimanya-Kabonera Election Petition Ruling for November 23

What the report says
The High Court in Masaka has finished hearing an election petition brought by National Resistance Movement candidate Robert Asiimwe against the election of National Unity Platform lawmaker Patrick Kuteesa as Kimanya-Kabonera Member of Parliament. Justice Joyce Kavuma is expected to issue the ruling on November 23, 2026, according to the report by Nile Post.
Asiimwe is contesting Kuteesa’s victory on the basis of alleged problems in the handling and declaration of results from six polling stations. The petition also questioned the authenticity and consistency of some Declaration of Results forms, after a government document examiner testified that certain forms submitted by the petitioner’s legal team did not match Electoral Commission records.
The article says discrepancies were noted in materials linked to polling stations including Kasijjagirwa and Kasango Playground, with differences reported in signatures and in some word spellings. Election officials from some of the stations also told the court they had handed in the forms after voting, but said they did not know why the commission’s records showed them as unavailable. The significance of those findings will be decided by the court.
Lawyers for Kuteesa argued that the Electoral Commission had colluded with Asiimwe, while Asiimwe’s side said its evidence supports the petition. The ruling will determine whether Kuteesa’s election stands, and it comes amid a wider series of election petition cases being handled by the Masaka High Court.
