Kenya: Suspect Arrested Over Brutal Murder of Molo Form Four Student

What the report says
Police in Kenya have arrested a 23-year-old man suspected of killing an 18-year-old Form Four student in Molo, Nakuru County, according to Capital FM as distributed by AllAfrica. The suspect, identified in the report as Walter Kipkoech, was tracked to a hideout in Lagwenda village in Kuresoi North after a manhunt that followed the killing of Joy Wangui, a student at Molo Secondary School.
The article says detectives from Molo and the Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau raided the location and detained Kipkoech. Police also reported that he had gone into hiding after Wangui’s death. Her body was found inside a house in the Kiambaa area of Moto Location, where investigators described the scene as gruesome. The report says her brother returned from a nearby shop to find her with severe injuries, and later found evidence including suspected weapons near the body.
Investigators said they recovered an axe, a panga and two knives, all reportedly stained with blood, and also found Wangui’s head in a corridor. The report further says police noted a message written in blood on a wall and are examining whether a relationship dispute may have been involved, describing the suspect as the victim’s boyfriend in preliminary findings.
The case has drawn attention because it adds to broader concern in Kenya over violence against women and girls. Police said the investigation is continuing and that Kipkoech is expected to be taken to court as detectives work to establish the full circumstances of the killing.
