Kenya: Sifuna Opposition Front-Runner At 19.6 Percent, Kalonzo 10.3 Percent, Matiang'i 7.2 Percent, Gachagua 6.0 Percent in New Politrack Survey

What the report says
A new Politrack Africa survey has placed Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna ahead of other opposition figures in Kenya’s presidential race, with 19.6% support among respondents who were asked who they would vote for if elections were held today. The poll, reported by Capital FM and distributed by AllAfrica, also showed President William Ruto leading the broader presidential preference table with 45.1%.
Among opposition contenders, Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka followed Sifuna at 10.3%, former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i at 7.2%, and former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua at 6.0%. Smaller shares went to other named figures, while 8.4% of respondents said they were undecided. The article also noted that Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance led party preferences nationally at 32%, ahead of the Democracy for the Citizens Party, ODM and Jubilee.
The survey found a nearly even split on the country’s direction, with 45.2% saying Kenya was moving the right way and 44.6% saying the opposite. It also suggested mixed views on government performance, with roads and housing rated most positively, while health-related schemes, anti-corruption efforts, and the economy and cost of living drew the strongest negative assessments.
Politrack said the poll was conducted from September 15 to 25 among 20,419 respondents across Kenya, with estimates weighted by county voter share and a reported margin of error of plus or minus 3 percentage points. The survey also indicated that a majority of respondents were open to the idea of a female deputy president.
