What the report says

Politrack Africa has released a nationwide survey in Kenya showing President William Ruto ahead in a hypothetical presidential vote, with 45.1% of respondents saying they would back him if an election were held today. According to the report published by Capital FM and distributed by AllAfrica, Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna ranked second at 19.6%, followed by Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka at 10.3%. Other figures mentioned in the poll included former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i at 7.2% and former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua at 6.0%.

The survey also asked about party popularity, with the United Democratic Alliance leading at 32%, ahead of the Democracy for the Citizens Party at 11.7% and ODM at 10.6%. It found the country nearly split on whether Kenya is heading in the right direction, with 45.2% saying yes and 44.6% saying no. Respondents also pointed to roads and housing as the government’s strongest areas, while health services, corruption, and economic pressure were among the most common concerns.

Politrack said the poll was conducted from September 15 to 25 among 20,419 respondents nationwide, with county results weighted by registered voter shares and a stated margin of error of plus or minus 3 percentage points. The release also explored attitudes toward a woman serving as Kenya’s first female deputy president, reporting that 53% of respondents were open to the idea. Because the findings are from a survey rather than an election, they indicate current preferences rather than an outcome.
