Kenya: Nairobi-Based Lawyer Arrested Over Alleged Land Fraud Scheme

AllAfrica, carrying a Capital FM report from Nairobi dated July 22, 2026, says detectives from Kenya’s Directorate of Criminal Investigations have arrested a Nairobi-based lawyer in connection with an alleged land fraud scheme. The suspect was identified in the report as Abdulahi Hussein, who was taken into custody by officers attached to the DCI Headquarters’ Land Fraud Investigations Unit.

According to the DCI account cited by Capital FM, the matter began with a complaint from a landowner who said she purchased the parcel in 2005 and remained in possession of it until November 2023. At that point, she was reportedly served with court papers showing Hussein was claiming ownership of the same property. Investigators then opened a probe into the complaint.

The report says detectives later sent their file to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, which agreed with a recommendation to charge Hussein with making a false document and uttering a forged document. Following that approval, DCI officers traced and arrested him in Nairobi’s Central Business District on Tuesday. He was reported to be in police custody awaiting processing before arraignment.
