Kenya: Government Will Spare No One in Crackdown On Political Goons - Kindiki

AllAfrica, carrying a Capital FM report by Irene Mwangi, reported that Kenya’s Deputy President Kithure Kindiki warned that the government would act against people who organize or use groups of “goons” to disturb public order. Speaking on Wednesday at the opening of the Kithimani Land Registry in Yatta Constituency, Machakos County, Kindiki said enforcement would apply to actors aligned with either the government or the opposition, framing national stability as a priority over partisan interests.

According to the report, Kindiki linked political violence to the exploitation of young people and damage to businesses during demonstrations. He urged political competitors to focus on development proposals, jobs, roads and support for women’s businesses rather than intimidation or threats. His comments come in a Kenyan political context where protests and counter-mobilization have often raised concerns about public safety, policing and the role of youth in partisan confrontations.

The same event also highlighted land and infrastructure services in Machakos County. Kindiki opened the Kithimani Land Registry and distributed some title deeds among 1,300 beneficiaries, saying the office would reduce residents’ need to travel to Machakos for land documentation. Lands Cabinet Secretary Alice Wahome, Principal Secretary Nixon Korir and area MPs were among those present.

Capital FM also reported government updates on local projects, including roads, water, markets, housing and hostels. The report cited more than 517 kilometres of road works in Machakos County valued at 30 billion shillings, and said the Kithimani Modern Market was 60 percent complete with completion expected before year-end.
