Kenya: Base to Billboardz Artists Gear Up for Album Launch With Exclusive Listening Party

What the report says
The Base to Billboardz music project in Kenya is moving toward the release of its collective album, with the six-member group known as KETEH hosting an exclusive listening party at Tusker Micro Brewery. The event, reported by Capital FM and distributed by AllAfrica, gave invited fans and industry guests an early preview of the album “Safari Ya Mapenzi,” which is scheduled to be released at the end of August.
The artists involved are Muringi Matheri, Manasseh Shalom, Zawadi, Chris Barr, Njuguna and Ras Amor. According to the report, they performed original songs shaped through months of mentorship and training in songwriting, recording, vocals, dance and stage performance. The listening session was presented as a chance to show how the artists’ sound and the wider collective project have developed over the course of the programme.
A Kenya Breweries Limited executive, Christine Kariuki, said the project has shown the artists’ growth as both individuals and a group. The report also places the listening party in the context of earlier programme activities, including a July jam session at K1 Klub House.
Base to Billboardz is described as a career accelerator rather than a standard competition. Capital FM said the initiative selected six artists from an initial pool of 30, after evaluation by industry figures and public participation. After the album launch, the artists are expected to perform at a public concert in early September and later join the Oktobafest 2026 tour in October.
