Kenya Airways flight suffers tyre burst on landing in Cape Town

Kenya Airways said one of its flights from Nairobi landed safely at Cape Town International Airport on Tuesday before suffering a tyre burst after touchdown, according to a customer update cited by Nile Post. The airline identified the service as Flight KQ784 and said the incident occurred at about 3:30 p.m. local time after the aircraft completed its scheduled journey. Kenya Airways said crew followed safety procedures and all passengers and crew disembarked safely.

The tyre burst disrupted airport operations and led to the cancellation of the return flight to Nairobi, Flight KQ785, while engineers and technical staff inspected and repaired the aircraft. Kenya Airways said it was contacting affected passengers to help with alternative travel arrangements and support. The airline also said there were no injuries and did not provide a cause for the tyre failure.

According to its update, arriving flights were diverted to other airports for a time, while domestic departures continued and wide-body international departures were briefly suspended until runway operations could resume.
