Kenya: 48 Women Rescued As Dci Busts Human Trafficking and Webcam Exploitation Syndicates

What the report says
AllAfrica, carrying a Capital FM report from Nairobi dated July 24, 2026, reported that Kenya’s Directorate of Criminal Investigations rescued 48 young women during operations targeting two suspected exploitation networks in Kajiado County. The raids took place in Ongata Rongai and nearby Kiserian, areas south of Nairobi, after detectives acted on information said to have come from the public.
In Rimpa, Ongata Rongai, investigators said they found 30 women aged 19 to 27 inside a residential house allegedly converted into a commercial webcam studio. Police reported recovering seven laptops fitted with cameras and other broadcasting equipment suspected of being used to create and livestream explicit material. Several people believed to have been running that operation were arrested and taken to Ongata Rongai Police Station.
A second operation by officers from Kiserian and Rongai police stations targeted a suspected trafficking ring that investigators said presented itself as a domestic recruitment agency. According to the report, 18 women were rescued from that premises after allegedly being promised lawful domestic work and then confined and pushed into commercial sexual exploitation. Police also recovered phones, laptops and digital storage devices. The suspected ringleader was not arrested during the raid, and detectives said a search was continuing.
Authorities said the rescued women would be placed under government protection and provided with emergency shelter, medical attention and psychosocial support. The DCI also said suspects arrested in the Ongata Rongai case would be taken to court while forensic analysis of seized electronics continues. The case highlights ongoing concerns in Kenya over deceptive recruitment, online sexual exploitation and trafficking of vulnerable women.
