Kenya: 46 Ebola Contacts Set for Discharge From Quarantine On November 3

What the report says
Kenya’s health authorities say 46 people who were identified as Ebola contacts are expected to leave quarantine on November 3 after completing the required monitoring period. The update was given in Nairobi by Public Health Principal Secretary May Muthoni, who told response teams to make sure discharge arrangements and support packages are ready for those completing isolation.
According to the report carried by Capital FM and distributed by AllAfrica, Muthoni said authorities want every person leaving quarantine to receive agreed assistance and that surveillance should continue to avoid further spread. She also said health teams should keep tracking the nine contacts who are outside Kenya, working with the relevant countries.
The article says Kenya has seen progress in containing the outbreak, with no new cases reported in the previous 10 days. It also states that the country had recorded nine Ebola cases and two deaths so far. The government says the known cases are linked and that there is no evidence of community transmission.
The World Health Organization, as quoted in the report, said contact tracing began after the first confirmed case on October 6 and that all contacts were traced and placed in quarantine by October 22. The planned discharge matters because it signals movement toward the end of the monitoring period while authorities continue to watch for any further transmission.
