Chelsea goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen is set to join Strasbourg on a season-long loan, according to BBC Sport Football. The 24-year-old has approved the move and is expected to head to the French club, which is part of the same BlueCo ownership group as Chelsea. The deal still depends on the final steps being completed by the parties involved.

BBC Sport reports that Strasbourg’s new manager, Hugo Oliveira, wanted a goalkeeper comfortable with playing out from the back after Mike Penders returned to Chelsea following his own loan spell. Jorgensen is understood to be seeking more regular first-team football after finding it difficult to move ahead of Robert Sanchez as Chelsea’s preferred goalkeeper.

Jorgensen had been with Chelsea during part of their pre-season tour before returning to London last week to sort out his future. He had also been linked with Coventry City. Strasbourg recently added another Chelsea-linked player, academy defender Genesis Antwi, on loan.

The move is another example of the player movement between Chelsea and Strasbourg since the clubs came under the same ownership structure.
