Watchdog Uganda published an opinion article by Zainah Katamba focusing on the effects of the Israel–Hamas war on young people, especially in Gaza. It also highlights concerns raised by the UN, WHO, UNICEF and the International Committee of the Red Cross about civilian protection, healthcare collapse, child welfare and humanitarian law.

Katamba, writing in connection with the Afro-Arab Youth Council’s concerns, says young people must be protected and included in recovery and peacebuilding. The article calls for rebuilding education, expanding mental health support, creating employment opportunities and ensuring youth voices are part of any long-term settlement.
