Kasese Municipal Medical Officer Dr Joy Muhindo urged people not to wait until symptoms become severe before seeking care, saying late detection makes treatment harder and more expensive. Organisers also stressed healthy living, regular check-ups and awareness campaigns as practical steps communities can take.

Augustine Musereru, who chairs the organising committee, said the run helps mobilise communities and remind people that cancer can be managed more effectively when found early. Rotarian Afan Abdullah said public participation is important because cancer affects people across age and social groups. Centenary Bank, the gold sponsor, said its backing reflects a broader commitment to healthier communities.
