Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator's son charged after mother shot at Virginia home - WJLA

What the report says
WJLA reported that Elijah Zion Bieniemy, 27, of Ashburn, Virginia, has been arrested after authorities said his mother, Mia Bieniemy, was shot Sunday evening at the family’s home in Loudoun County. The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were called at about 7:32 p.m. to the 20000 block of Northpark Drive, where they found a woman with multiple gunshot wounds. She was taken to a nearby hospital with serious injuries and was later reported to be in stable condition.
According to WJLA, Sheriff Mike Chapman said Mia Bieniemy, 57, called 911 after the shooting. Chapman confirmed that Elijah Zion Bieniemy is the son of Mia Bieniemy and Eric Bieniemy, the Kansas City Chiefs’ offensive coordinator and a former Washington Commanders assistant. Authorities said Elijah Bieniemy faces charges including malicious wounding, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and discharging a firearm inside a dwelling. He was being held without bond at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center.
WJLA reported that a Monday arraignment was continued, with a preliminary hearing scheduled for Aug. 31. Online court records listed a public defender as Bieniemy’s attorney as of Monday morning. Officials said they were still investigating what led to the shooting, but reported no continuing threat to the public and said there had been no prior incidents at the home.
The Chiefs told WJLA the team was aware of an incident involving Eric Bieniemy’s family and would not comment further out of respect for privacy. Head coach Andy Reid said Monday that Bieniemy had left training camp and would have time to focus on his family.
