What the report says

British Afroswing group NSG has arrived in Kampala ahead of the Sounds of the Diaspora concert, which is scheduled to take place at UMA Showgrounds in Lugogo on Saturday, August 22, according to Sqoop Uganda. The London-based collective first met fans at Club Guvnor after landing in Uganda on Wednesday, August 19, giving supporters an early chance to see the artists before the main show.

The concert is being positioned as a collaboration between international and Ugandan performers. Sqoop Uganda reported that NSG will share the stage with local acts including Fik Fameica, MUN G, Aaronx and Tojo 256, while DJs Alisha, Vanss and Linus are also listed on the lineup. The event will be hosted by Viana Indi, Hype Cartel and Pest MC, among others.

NSG are known for combining Afrobeats, UK rap, dancehall and hip-hop, and their appearance is being billed as one of the weekend’s notable music events in Kampala. The organisers, including Guvnor Uganda and Bandali Manor, appear to be using the concert to highlight links between African music and the wider diaspora.

Sqoop Uganda said tickets are on sale, with single passes priced at Shs75,000, tables for four at Shs1.5 million and tables for eight at Shs2.5 million. More broadly, the concert reflects a continuing effort in Kampala’s live-music scene to attract international performers while giving Ugandan artists a platform alongside them.
