Kabuye to Present DR Forms as Kassanda South Vote Recount Looms

What the report says
Former Kassanda South MP Frank Kabuye says he will submit Declaration of Results forms to support a court-ordered recount in the constituency’s parliamentary election dispute. According to Nile Post, the recount is set for Friday, October 16, at Mubende High Court and stems from an election petition filed by independent candidate Eria Mubiru challenging the January 15 vote.
Kabuye, who ran for the National Unity Platform and finished third in the declared outcome, said he wants the court to compare the polling-station forms with the official tally. He said the process should help determine whether votes were counted correctly and whether the published result reflected what voters chose. Nile Post reported that Kabuye does not plan to bring a separate petition himself, saying he prefers to let the legal process proceed.
The Electoral Commission declared National Resistance Movement candidate Hajji Abdul Bisaso the winner with 11,765 votes. Mubiru followed with 11,050 votes, Kabuye had 9,231, and Alliance for National Transformation candidate Julius Kizza received 71. The recount is expected to assist the court in assessing the petition and could affect how the broader dispute over the Kassanda South result is resolved.
More broadly, vote recounts are often used in election petitions to test whether official returns match ballot records, but any final legal outcome will depend on the court’s review of the evidence.
