Kaberamaido RDC Takes Government Programme Audit to Communities

The Office of the Resident District Commissioner in Kaberamaido District has announced a districtwide series of community meetings to review how government programmes are being implemented and to hear residents’ concerns about service delivery. According to a notice issued by the RDC’s office on August 27, the Government Programmes Evaluation Barazas are set to run from September 3 to 13, 2026, at sub-county headquarters and town council venues across the district.

The meetings are intended to bring together residents, local leaders and government officials to discuss the performance of public interventions and identify obstacles affecting beneficiaries. The schedule begins at Okile Sub-county on September 3 and continues through Kaberamaido Sub-county, Aperikin, Kaberamaido Town Council, Kobulubulu, Alwa, Ochero, Ochero Town Council and Oriamo. The notice was signed by Kaberamaido RDC Godfrey Nyakahuma.

Assistant Resident District Commissioner Arikos Peter said the forums will give communities a direct channel to raise issues linked to programmes such as the Parish Development Model, cattle restocking, SAGE and Emyooga. He cited complaints raised in earlier engagements, including allegations of extortion, favouritism, ghost beneficiaries, misuse of resources and delays in service delivery. He urged residents to attend with evidence-based concerns and avoid unsupported accusations.

The outreach is part of a broader government emphasis on community participation and accountability in public programme monitoring. The RDC’s office copied the notice to district political and administrative leaders, including MPs, the district chairperson, chief administrative officer, internal security officer and NRM leaders.
