Kabale Diocese Marks 60 Years With Ordination of 23 Clergy

What the report says
Kabale Diocese has marked its 60th anniversary with the ordination of 13 priests and 10 deacons, an event that coincided with the diocese’s annual Thanksgiving Day. The celebrations were held at Our Lady of Good Shepherd Rushoroza Cathedral in Kabale Municipality and drew thousands of Christians, clergy and dignitaries, including Finance Minister Henry Musasizi and Health Minister Dr Chris Baryomunsi.
The ordination Mass was led by the Apostolic Administrator of Kabale Diocese, Rt Rev Callist Rubaramira, who encouraged the newly ordained clergy to remain committed to their vocation and to serve with confidence and faith. In his remarks, he emphasized their responsibility to preach the Gospel, guide believers and stay close to God despite the challenges of ministry. He also urged Christians to follow Jesus Christ and live according to his teachings.
According to Nile Post, the anniversary celebrations were also used to reflect on the diocese’s growth since its establishment on April 17, 1966, especially in evangelisation, vocations, education, healthcare and social development. The diocese also paid tribute to past bishops and other church workers who helped shape its six-decade history.
The report adds broader context that Kabale Diocese is now under Apostolic Administration while awaiting the installation of bishop-elect Msgr Bonaventure Bosco Gubazire, following the retirement of Rubaramira as bishop.
