What the report says

Mukono High Court judge Mary Kaitesi was injured in a road crash on Sunday night at Kiryoro along the Pallisa-Tirinyi road in Kibuku district, according to The Observer. The judge was travelling in a Toyota Prado when it collided with a Mitsubishi Fuso truck. Police also said her bodyguard, Corporal Pamela Makirwoth, and the truck driver were among the three people hurt in the incident.

The paper reported that the crash happened at about 8:30 pm. Bukedi North regional police spokesperson Wilfred Kyempasa said the Prado was being driven from Tirinyi toward Pallisa when it encountered a Mercedes-Benz trailer that had reportedly broken down and was left occupying part of the road without warning signs. As the driver tried to avoid the obstruction, the vehicle moved into the path of the oncoming Fuso, which was carrying scrap materials.

Police said the Fuso overturned and the Prado ended up in a trench after the collision. The injured were taken to an unnamed health facility for treatment. Authorities described the case as a side-swipe collision and continued to investigate the circumstances. The damaged vehicles were taken to Tirinyi police station for inspection, while the trailer was moved and warning signs were placed at the scene. The report highlights ongoing concerns about roadside parking and the risks posed by stalled heavy vehicles on busy roads.
