Polygon reports that Thursday, July 23 is shaping up as a crowded release day for video games, with new entries tied to Avatar, Splatoon and Halo arriving alongside several smaller launches. The outlet frames the date as part of an unusually busy late-summer and early-fall calendar, suggesting publishers may be trying to avoid the attention around Grand Theft Auto 6’s Nov. 19 release.

According to Polygon, Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game is due that day on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Windows PC and Xbox Series X after a three-week delay. The 2D one-on-one fighter includes a story mode, online play and 12 launch characters from Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra, with support characters altering playstyles and a mode aimed at players new to fighting games.

Nintendo’s Splatoon Raiders is also listed for July 23, launching on Switch 2 as the franchise’s first fully single-player title. Polygon says players control a mechanic stranded on the Spirhalite islands, joined by Deep Cut from Splatoon 3, while collecting loot and upgrading gear to fight Salmonids. Halo: Campaign Evolved, described as a ground-up remake of Halo: Combat Evolved, enters early access the same day on Windows PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X for premium-edition buyers or upgraded preorders.

Polygon adds that Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster comes to Switch 2, while Disgaea Mayhem and the dinosaur-themed adventure Theropods also launch on July 23. The cluster matters because several major franchises are competing for player attention on a single day.
