Julius Kyazze named among Africa’s 100 most influential

Julius Kyazze, a Ugandan creative entrepreneur, has been named among Africa’s 100 Most Influential people, according to Sqoop Uganda. The recognition highlights a career that has moved from Uganda’s entertainment scene into wider African creative business, with Kyazze often working behind the scenes rather than in the spotlight.

Sqoop Uganda reported that Kyazze’s early experience included work with the Eclipse Dance Group, Buzz Magazine and Buzz Events, which helped shape his understanding of how youth culture, brands and entertainment can work together. He later co-founded Swangz Avenue with producer Benon Mugumbya, helping grow it into a major Ugandan entertainment company involved in music, video production, advertising, talent management, events and branded content. The company has been linked with artists such as Irene Ntale, Winnie Nwagi, Vinka and Azawi.

The article says Kyazze has since expanded into sports management and other media and entertainment ventures. His current company, Live54+, focuses on experiences that connect entertainment, brands, events, content and business, with work reaching beyond Uganda into other African markets. Sqoop Uganda framed the recognition as evidence of the growing influence of Africa’s creative economy, where entertainment is increasingly viewed as an industry that can generate jobs, businesses and cross-border opportunities.

Kyazze said on social media that he has usually been more comfortable building than talking about his work, and described the honour as a reminder that there is still more to do.
