Jay-Z to perform at Super Bowl half-time show

What the report says
The NFL has announced that Jay-Z will perform at the Super Bowl half-time show in February, marking the first time the hip-hop artist will take the stage at the league’s championship game. BBC World News reports that the announcement comes after years of Jay-Z’s involvement with the event through Roc Nation, his company, which has produced the half-time show since 2019 and helps choose each year’s performer.
The broadcaster said the announcement did not say whether Jay-Z will be the only headline act. The NFL teased that the possibility of guest performers will now be a major part of the buildup, and suggested Beyoncé could be among the names fans speculate about. Jay-Z, whose legal name is Shawn Carter, also recently performed two shows at the Los Angeles stadium that will host the game, as part of a tour marking 30 years since his debut album, Reasonable Doubt.
Next year’s Super Bowl LXI is scheduled for 14 February near Los Angeles. NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said he was excited to see Jay-Z’s influence, creativity and cultural reach on the event’s biggest stage. The development matters because it places one of hip-hop’s most influential figures in a role he has long helped shape behind the scenes, while also adding another high-profile moment to the Super Bowl’s entertainment lineup.
