Jasper Philipsen wins Stage 17 of Tour de France, Tadej Pogacar protects lead - NBC Sports

NBC Sports, carrying an Associated Press report, said Jasper Philipsen won Stage 17 of the Tour de France on July 22, 2026, in Voiron, France, after Alpecin-Premier Tech teammate Mathieu van der Poel helped control the closing kilometers. Philipsen took his first stage victory of this year’s race ahead of Mauro Schmid and Olav Kooij on the 108.5-mile route from Chambery to Voiron.

The report described the stage as the sprinters’ final favorable opportunity before the race moved into the Alps. Several attacks shaped the day, including moves involving Mads Pedersen, Ben Healy, Michal Kwiatkowski, Felix Engelhardt, Ed Planckaert and Jasper Stuyven. The report also noted that cycling’s governing body, the UCI, defended rare overnight anti-doping tests after criticism that early-hours controls disrupted riders’ recovery. The Tour was scheduled to finish July 26 in Paris.
