What the report says

The Independent Uganda reports that Jambojet plans to restart flights between Nairobi and Entebbe on October 1, 2026, ending a six-year break from the Ugandan market. The low-cost Kenyan carrier announced the move at a stakeholder event in Kampala on August 20, saying the route is aimed at serving rising demand for air travel, tourism and cross-border trade between Kenya and Uganda.

According to the article, Jambojet will operate daily passenger services on the route and also offer cargo and parcel transport. The airline said the restored link will give Ugandan travelers access to its wider Kenyan network, including destinations such as Mombasa, Diani, Malindi and Lamu. Chief executive Karanja Ndegwa said the return supports the company’s broader push to improve regional connectivity and make flying more affordable and convenient.

The report says one-way fares will start at about $170. It also cites Jambojet as projecting demand between Kenya and Uganda at about 300,000 passengers in 2026. Travel industry representatives in Uganda welcomed the announcement, saying it comes as regional movement and business activity recover.

The article adds that Jambojet first entered Uganda in 2018 but later shifted focus to its domestic Kenyan operations during the COVID-19 disruption. It notes that the airline has expanded its fleet and passenger numbers in 2026, reflecting a wider effort to grow in East African markets.
