Jambojet returns to Entebbe six years after Covid-19 outbreak

Jambojet plans to restart service between Nairobi and Entebbe on October 1, 2026, according to The Observer, marking its return to Uganda after suspending regional operations during the Covid-19 period. The low-cost airline first entered the Ugandan market in 2018, and the relaunch is intended to improve air links between Uganda and Kenya while offering travellers a more affordable option for business, tourism and other trips.

The airline said it will begin with one daily flight on the route. Jambojet chief executive and managing director Karanja Ndegwa described the move as a continuation of the company’s earlier presence in Uganda rather than a fresh market entry. He said the airline had previously built a relationship in the country before the pandemic interrupted its expansion.

Ndegwa also pointed to the broader traffic between the two countries, noting long-standing economic, social and tourism connections. Travel between Uganda and Kenya commonly includes business, trade, education, tourism and family visits. He said the airline’s aim is to help expand demand rather than directly displace other carriers on the route.
