NBCSports.com’s Pro Football Talk reported that defensive tackle Jalen Carter and the Philadelphia Eagles have agreed to a four-year contract extension, citing ESPN’s Adam Schefter. The report, published July 28, 2026, says the agreement’s initial figures are $152 million, with a maximum value of up to $160 million and $106 million guaranteed.

According to the NBCSports.com report, those terms would make Carter the highest-paid defensive tackle in NFL history. Philadelphia had already exercised Carter’s fifth-year option earlier in the offseason, and the new deal is said to keep him under contract with the Eagles through the 2031 season.

Carter was selected No. 9 overall in the 2023 NFL Draft and has quickly become a central part of Philadelphia’s defense. NBCSports.com noted that he was a key contributor to the Eagles’ Super Bowl LIX championship run after the 2024 season. Through three years, the report credits him with 13.5 sacks, 25 tackles for loss and 37 quarterback hits across 43 games, including 27 starts.

The extension is significant because it locks in one of the league’s top young interior defenders for the long term and further signals Philadelphia’s commitment to building around its defensive front. Carter, a two-time Pro Bowler, has also recorded 13 passes defended and four forced fumbles, according to the report.
