Israeli strikes hit Gaza as Health Ministry urges Rafah opening

What the report says
Al Jazeera reported on 29 Oct. 2026 that Israeli attacks across Gaza continued at a high pace despite a declared ceasefire, killing and wounding Palestinians in several areas of the enclave. The report said at least two people were killed in a drone strike on a civilian car in the Maghazi refugee camp in central Gaza, while other strikes and shelling were reported in Jabalia, Gaza City and the al-Mawasi area near Rafah. Hospitals including Al-Aqsa Martyrs, al-Shifa, Nasser and others received the wounded, some of them in critical condition.
The article also described ongoing demolitions and artillery fire in parts of Gaza east of the so-called Yellow Line, with Israeli forces reportedly targeting tents sheltering displaced families and destroying homes and infrastructure in areas including Deir el-Balah, Khan Younis, Gaza City and Beit Lahiya. Among those killed in the al-Mawasi strike were civilian employees of Gaza’s Economy Ministry who were monitoring aid trucks entering through the Karem Abu Salem crossing.
Gaza’s Health Ministry renewed its call for the Rafah crossing to be opened so sick and wounded people can leave for medical care abroad. It said more than 21,000 patients and injured people still need treatment outside Gaza, including thousands in urgent condition. The ministry said repeated border closures and delays in evacuation requests have worsened patients’ health, and that dozens had died while waiting to travel. Separately, it said 6 Palestinians were killed and 38 wounded in the previous 24 hours. The report underscores how border access remains central to Gaza’s medical crisis and humanitarian situation.
